Privacy Policy
Last updated · 14 June 2026
Introduction
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy applies to Paper Starship ("Paper Starship", "we", "us", or "our"), an independent product lab based in Melbourne, Australia, and covers our website at paperstarship.com.au together with the apps, websites, and other digital products we build and operate that link to this document (the "Services"). It explains what information we collect from you — including "Personal Information" that identifies you — and how we use it.
We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
Scope and Applicability
Some of what we build, we build for or operate on behalf of others. Where we handle Personal Information as a service provider for a client — for example, data passing through a product we have made for them — that client decides what is collected and is the party responsible for it. For privacy questions about a product where someone other than Paper Starship is the controller, please contact that party directly. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of our clients, which may differ from ours.
What Information Do We Collect?
Information you give us directly:
- Your email address and the contents of messages you send us
- Any information you choose to share when you get in touch
Information collected automatically:
- Device data — type, operating system, browser, and approximate location
- Usage data — pages viewed, referral pages, time spent, and IP address
- Network information — URLs, sessions, and click streams
- Data from cookies and similar tracking technologies
How Do We Use The Information We Collect?
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Services and your experience of them
- Prevent fraud and unauthorised activity, and keep the Services secure
- Respond to you and provide support
- Understand how the Services are used, including via analytics
- Comply with our legal obligations and protect our and others' rights

- Carry out any other purpose with your consent
Do We Share Your Personal Information?
We may share Personal Information with:
- Service providers who help us run the Services (hosting, infrastructure, analytics)
- Professional advisers, and parties involved in a change of business ownership
- Law enforcement or regulators where required by law, or to detect and address fraud or security threats
- Anyone else with your consent
We do not sell your Personal Information.
How Do We Use Tracking Technologies?
Some features of the Services use "cookies" — small text files stored on your device.
- Required cookies enable navigation and core features and cannot be turned off.
- Performance cookies help us understand usage in aggregate without identifying you; you can manage these in your browser settings.
- Functionality cookies remember your preferences; you can also manage these in your browser settings.
How Do We Secure Your Personal Information?
We use measures such as encryption in transit and access controls to protect Personal Information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Using the Services means accepting that risk.
Your Privacy Rights
Subject to applicable law, including the Australian Privacy Principles, you may request access to, or correction of, the Personal Information we hold about you. To make a request, or to raise a concern, contact us at privacy@paperstarship.com.au. Where the information was collected on behalf of a client, please contact that client directly.
Data Retention
We keep Personal Information for as long as is reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Technical information may be retained for internal analysis and to improve the Services.
Links to Third-Party Websites
The Services may link to external websites that have their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control, endorse, or accept responsibility for third-party sites or their content.
Do Not Track
We do not change our practices in response to "Do Not Track" signals, as we do not engage in cross-site targeted advertising tracking.
Children
The Services are not directed to anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from them. If you believe we have, please contact privacy@paperstarship.com.au and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Users Outside Australia
We operate from Australia. If you access the Services from elsewhere, your Personal Information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Australia or other countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those where you live. By using the Services you consent to that transfer.
